We’ve completely revamped the BoekWijzer website! We created the website to support the BoekWijzer app, our mobile guide to the world of Dutch literature. Using the app, you can quickly and easily stay up to date with the latest literary news. The BoekWijzer app is available for iOS and Android users.
A new CMS
The reason behind the revamp was simple – the CMS used by the BoekWijzer site was becoming obsolete! We developed the original site using Drupal 7, but after November 2023, this Drupal version will no longer receive support from Drupal. The end-of-life was initially planned for November 2022! As switching to Drupal 9 wouldn’t be straightforward, we decided to move to a CMS better suited to the site: time for WordPress.
A new colleague
Once we’d taken the decision to rebuild the entire site in WordPress, we seized the opportunity to completely restyle the site too. We’d just welcomed a talented new web designer to our team – Patrick van Bennekom – and we gave him the task of designing the new BoekWijzer website. Patrick is familiar working with WordPress and the Adobe Suite, so this was a great way to get him started at BSL.
A new design
Patrick’s new design was an instant hit with his colleagues. Fresh, modern and user-friendly. He even gave the BoekWijzer logo a new look. We were so enthusiastic about the latest designs that we decided to update the look of the BoekWijzer app at the same time. Our developers have already made the changes, and we’re now busy testing. We are confident that a new release of the BoekWijzer app for iOS and Android will be available soon – so watch this space!
A new URL
Oh, and we are also switching to a new, more modern URL: you can now find the BoekWijzer site at boekwijzer.app!
So there’s a lot that’s new! But the content of the website has remained essentially the same. This meant we needed to move the blog posts (170 of them!) to the new website. And because the blogs are an essential part of the BoekWijzer site and app, we took great care with the transition. Are you interested in Dutch literature? Then download the BoekWijzer app developed by BSL!
