Did you know that young people who work for small-scale companies get more opportunities than those who work in large ones? Not only do you have the chance to shine, you get to learn more too. And as a result – you enjoy your work far more. 2018 has started well for BSL, therefore we have a number of exciting openings. So if you’re looking for a new challenge, maybe our blog will encourage you to get in touch…
Multi-tasking at BSL
You often need to focus on one specific task or project within a large company. But small-scale companies like BSL allow you more freedom. See a task that interests you? Then give it a try. Get some help from a colleague, and maybe you will become our expert. Technology is changing every day. There is always something new. So we will actively encourage you to get involved, and find out more. Graphic Designers at BSL learn to work with platforms like WordPress, and Drupal. They also work with software engineers to create complex web applications. Our marketing assistant writes blogs, manages a marketing budget, and regularly works on new web pages with our designers. Flexible, fun and challenging!
Giant steps
We often hear from trainees and starters that they make giant steps when they join BSL. Responsibility can be scary, but by giving you real responsibility, you learn more quickly. And demands from clients like ABN AMRO and PWC mean that even our senior developers encounter new challenges almost every day. Small-scale we may be, but we’re ambitious, innovative and flexible.
“You often get small routine tasks when you join large companies. You’re not involved in decision-making at all. But at the Bright Side, you’re included in this from the start. You can have your say, and make a real contribution. You also have the freedom to develop new skills. I started as Interaction Designer and moved on quickly to become an app developer. This helped me greatly in my personal development!”
Familiar with the ins & outs
We carry out most projects in small teams at BSL. By holding a daily stand-up, you learn all about the projects your colleagues are working on. And you also know what is going on at the business level. Within small-scale companies your voice will be heard. Moreover our communication lines are short. You can directly ask any colleague for help (maybe check that they’re not stuck on their own tricky coding issues first!). This also means we can make decisions quickly. Nice for employees, and it works out well for our customers too.
Informal and flexible
Small-scale companies deliver a friendly and informal working atmosphere. BSL is no exception. As a small team, you will have lots of personal contact. And lots of attention and help when you need it. In addition to working hard within the Bright Side, we also make time for socializing. Every day we lunch together in the lounge, and we usher in the weekend with a Friday afternoon drink. What’s more, we organize activities and events throughout the year, such as our popular film afternoons. And there’s lots of cake. Whatever the excuse (new contract, delivered a new release, almost anything really!). So just as well we also contribute to a gym membership, so you can train off the calories…
