NBD Biblion is a well-known publisher and information provider specialising in the library- and education branch. Over recent months, BSL engineers have been working on modernising its Acquisition and Information DAtabase (AIDA). Using the NBD Biblion order system ‘AIDA’, their clients can order individual titles (books and multimedia) or upload a complete order list.
NBD Biblion order system – revisualization
BSL was asked to update both the visual as well as the technical aspects of the AIDA system. The web-interface now has a more modern look-and-feel that matches the current NBD Biblion housestyle, and a new feature called ‘Promotions’ has been added to the home page. A range of technical improvements have also been implemented, introducing a Drupal front-end and adding a new MySQL database with links to the Oracle-based source database.
Because of the scope of these changes, BSL offered NBD Biblion additional support before ‘their’ system was taken into production. Being informed about the progress of a development project doesn’t make you an expert when it comes to using it.
On-site training by BSL
We produced a custom training programme, and provided on-site training at NBD Biblion’s office in Zoetermeer, making sure that future managers would feel completely at home with their new system. Even though they were aware of the new changes, their reactions to the training were extremely positive.
