Internet plays an increasingly important role in all our lives. An aging population, and ever more websites and services. This can lead to difficulties for certain groups of people, including those with disabilities or the elderly. We’re proud to say that we fully support the need for easy access websites. Our most recent BSL website meets the ‘Drempelvrij’ standard for accessibility.
An ‘easy access’ website
Such was the introduction for a BSL news item just over a year ago. And in recent months, everyone can ‘see’ that we’ve completely redesigned our website. We mean literally everyone, as we’ve once again taken on board guidelines established by the government that require maximum accessibility for all users.
Accessibility is our goal
The ‘Drempelvrij’ or ‘Accessibility’ Quality Mark for easy access is an (international) testing standard for accessible websites. When the new Bright Side of Life website was tested recently, we achieved a score of 100% for each of the 51 verification points used. This means that our site qualifies as “Accessibility Level 3: Web Content Accessibility Guidelines 2”.
Or as it states on the website www.drempelvrij.nl: “The highest level is Accessibility Level 3, represented by a green logo with three stars. If your site satisfies Web Guidelines 2 Level AA, you are permitted to place this logo on the site.”
When a website has been shown to satisfy the accessibility requirements, the site’s owner receives a certificate and the associated Accessibility Quality Mark can be included on the site. BSL is also registered as a developer of accessible websites on drempelvrij.nl.
