Since January 2014, members of Dutch libraries have been able to borrow more than 5,000 e-books via a wide range of mobile devices. As part of the e-books introduction, we’ve developed the new BNL Customer Service for e-books website. This site is designed to help all users of the Bibliotheek.nl e-books service. We also deployed a CMS, so that the library service can continually extend the help that is provided within the website.
New Bibliotheek.nl e-books service
People who are already library members can currently borrow e-books without charge via the Bibliotheek.nl site. After April, library members will be required to pay for newer books less than three years old, but will still be able to read older books for free. Once requested, e-books are available to read for up to three weeks.
BNL Customer Service for e-books
BSL was asked by Bibliotheek.nl (BNL) to design and build their online customer service site for the new e-books service.
Via this website, BNL supports and assists library members when downloading and using e-books on their mobile devices.
The customer’s requirements were discussed with Bibliotheek.nl at the start of the project, and BSL built the site using a Drupal CMS (version 7) in just a few weeks.
The result is a standalone website incorporating the Bibliotheek.nl look and feel (BSL integrated the existing BNL house-style), where BNL has total control over the content. From defining the categories and subjects through to providing detailed information in the form of a series of help pages.
