Education
Technical College or University level (equivalent to the Dutch HBO-ICT / HIO, or WO-ICT).
What we’re looking for
- At least 3 years experience of Java or PHP programming
- Good understanding of object-oriented techniques
- Familiar with the concepts behind scalable applications
- Familiar with various design and architectural patterns
- Knowledge of concurrency patterns
- A talent for writing clean, readable and maintainable code
We’re also interested in the following skills
- Front-end
Experience with HTML/CSS and JavaScript/jQuery
Familiar with Java GUI frameworks
- Back-end
Experience with JDBC, JSON, XML and RESTful web-services
Experience with databases (such as MySQL, SQL Server, Oracle and embedded/local databases)
- Some “Nice to haves”
Familiarity with scripting tools, as well as SVN/Git
Experience with popular web application frameworks
Experience of designing/creating database schemas

Part-time work (at least 32 hours per week) is possible for this position.
Location
With more than 25 years of experience, the Bright Side of Life development teams excel in the development of custom software. Most of the time you will work at our well-equipped, modern and informal offices in Breukelen. Easy to reach by car (near the A2, and free parking), or by public transport (easy connection to Amsterdam, Utrecht, Rotterdam and Den Haag).
