We are aware that you place your trust in us. We therefore see it as our responsibility to protect your privacy. This page explains how we deal with your personal data at bright-side-of-life.com. And also which cookies are placed by ourselves, and possibly by third parties.
BSL respects the privacy of all site users. We ensure that the personal information you provide is treated confidentially.

When using this website, we use so-called “cookies” that store information about your use of the site and the contents. You can manage which cookies we are allowed to use by clicking the “privacy settings” button:
Personal information on bright-side-of-life.com
We process the following personal data
The only personal information we use is that which you provide via contact forms. The website also monitors your browsing behaviour automatically and anonymously by setting cookies. We provide more information about cookies below.

Under the GDPR legislation, you have many rights. BSL complies with this legislation in the following ways:
- Information and insight: You can ask to see which personal data we process.

- Filing a complaint to the Dutch Data Protection Authority: If BSL fails to comply with the applicable legislation, you can file a complaint.
Retention periods
The General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) does not specify a retention period for personal data. However, the GDPR does stipulate storage restrictions in Article 5.1 (e). This article states that personal data may only be retained as identifiable information for as long as is necessary to provide our service. By making the data anonymous (so that any direct or indirect identification is no longer possible), it is possible to extend the length of time the data is stored. There are exceptions for archiving, general interest, scientific or historical research/statistical purposes. BSL does not retain personal data for longer than is strictly necessary.
Cookies on bright-side-of-life.com
We use so-called “cookies” on our website. Cookies are sent along with our website pages and stored temporarily on your computer. Some cookies are necessary for the site’s functioning, whilst we use others for analytics and marketing purposes. These make use of services provided by Google and LinkedIn.
Anonymous analytics cookies are important to us. Without this input from visitors, we cannot obtain a clear picture of how users navigate our website, nor how we can improve it.
Some cookies are not directly placed by BSL but by third parties. Third parties are organisations such as Google, Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn.

Below you will find an overview of the cookies we use on this website. Should you wish to manage your privacy settings to control which of these cookies you accept, use the following button:
Necessary cookies
Necessary cookies help make a website usable by enabling essential functions like page navigation and access to secure areas of the website. The website cannot function properly without these cookies.
Preference cookies
Preference cookies enable a website to remember information that changes the way the website behaves or looks, such as your preferred language, screen size or browser preferences.
Statistics cookies
Statistics cookies help website owners to understand how visitors interact with websites by collecting and reporting information anonymously.
Marketing cookies
Marketing cookies track visitors across websites. Managed by third parties, they help to display ads that are relevant and engaging for the individual user and thereby more valuable for publishers and third-party advertisers. As default, these cookies are not allowed.
Social buttons
Buttons are included on bright-side-of-life.com to share pages via social networks like Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn. These buttons contain pieces of code from the respective platforms, and they use cookies to remember your login status. As a result, you don’t have to log in to Twitter or Facebook every time you want to share a page on different websites.
Embedded content
Content is sometimes hosted on other sites such as YouTube or Vimeo and displayed on bright-side-of-life.com as embedded content. In the same way as the social buttons, these content providers often use cookies. Please refer to the privacy policy of the relevant service if you wish to know how they use these cookies and personal data. We have no influence on these policies.
Google Analytics & Adwords
Via Google Analytics cookies, we collect anonymous data about the usage of our website. This information allows us to see how visitors use our website, and subsequently make informed decisions about the layout and design. As a result, we can optimise our website’s performance.
Google stores the information we obtain on its servers. They may also supply this anonymous information to advertisers, providing insights into the effectiveness of their campaigns. Google may provide this information to third parties if Google is legally allowed to do so and if these third parties process the information on behalf of Google. However, we have no influence on the use of your data by Google. Read Google’s privacy policy for more information and the specific privacy policy of Google Analytics.
You can opt to download a so-called “anti-tracking” browser plugin from Google. This plugin ensures that no website can track your internet use via Google services when activated.
