Developed by BSL, Pulse supplies thousands of PWC employees with reliable and relevant content. Working throughout Europe, they can subscribe to any number of profiled news feeds. Not only in their company portal, but also via e-mail and on their smartphones. We created Pulse using Oracle, and Exalead technology. (more…)

Reception system for visitors

In 2022, we designed and developed a new reception system for visitors and other businesses in our building in Breukelen. Our first challenge was to create an entirely new design, as the previous system needed a fresh look. We also wanted to add several new features.

Our building is home to several businesses, so we designed the reception system to help visitors find the right office and show them where to go. Each company can add appointments to the agenda, and we automatically display their office location alongside each agenda item. Companies can also add their company news, shown interchangeably with articles from nu.nl.

Uniquely, our system changes to reflect the current weather, and time of day, using moving backgrounds that match the weather and local time. These backgrounds and a range of layouts serve to protect the screen, automatically switching between content selections throughout the day.

CRV maintains a comprehensive database of herd records including many photos. The Bright Side of Life (BSL) was therefore asked to develop the Digital Photo Archive (DPA), an image database. A BSL-developed prototype for the next generation of the mijnBibliotheek.nl website aims to bring the existing site in line with ‘Web 2.0’ standards, and to enable users/ local libraries to create an optimal library experience. A widget showing the location of libraries and their opening times within a Google Maps page was one of the initial developments. We went on to develop more than 40 different widgets for integration within local library sites. (more…)

Stichting Lezen – Leesplan

BSL developed the Leesplan.nl website at the request of Stichting Lezen. A leading Dutch Institute for teaching reading skills. The goal of the site? To systematically promote literacy and reading in schools and childcare organizations. Guided by the site, users can effortlessly create and maintain individual reading plans. These plans are created using pre-defined teaching blocks and exercises drawn from the national Project Bank. This is a library of components, also developed by BSL.
