Edison Software

Edison is a suite of three image management applications: HKD, R&V, and VRD. BSL developed the Edison software for the Dutch Criminal Intelligence Service (CRI) and the Dutch regional police authority (KLPD). With the help of Edison, users can manage and distribute thousands of high quality, sensitive and encrypted images. We developed the applications for Windows and Apple computers, sharing a central Sybase ASE database. Many of the end-user interfaces were designed for touch-screens. This makes the applications extremely easy to use.

Regional police divisions use Edison/HKD  to create and manage photo databases of criminals. The contents are synchronized between multiple sites. There are many ways to digitize and import photographs. This means users can create ‘virtual identity parades’ of suspects. The second Edison/R&V module was developed for worldwide use. It consists of a CMS used to store, identify, describe and manage high-resolution images of residence permits, international passports and other travel documents. And last but not least, we developed Edison/VRD for the Dutch Immigration and Naturalization Service (IND). The IND uses VRD to register photographs and signatures of foreign residents.
