Marketing at BSL has changed drastically over the last couple of years, as our focus is now on online marketing. We ensure that our website is optimized for online search, we’re active on various Social Media channels, and we invest in Search Engine Advertising (SEA) to find new clients. This approach has delivered many successes over the past year. Lots of new customers have found us, leading to several interesting projects and challenges. In this blog we tell you more about SEA. Maybe we can also help with your online marketing…
Search Engine Advertising
Search Engine Advertising (SEA) is when you pay Google or Bing to promote your website and services. Your ads are promoted on their search results pages in combination with the organic search results that the search engine displays. We mainly use Google as they have the largest market share: 87.7% on desktop and 95.35% on mobile.
Search Engine Advertising is an excellent way to reach your target audience and encourage potential clients to take action. A well-tuned campaign ensures that when people search for a product or service you offer, your advertisements appear. Your ads are displayed in response to the keywords you choose. When someone types in a keyword in the search engine, sees your ad and then clicks on it, you pay an amount to Google. A visitor then arrives on your website, which hopefully leads to a conversion! You control the amount you pay by carefully managing the keywords you choose. And if you choose picture ads, you can also manage where your ads will be displayed, which can also affect your costs.
The road to success
To ensure that our BSL website gets more traffic, we make extensive use of Google AdWords. When I first started working as an Online Marketing Assistant at BSL campaigns were already running. They mainly focused on display advertisements. It was my task to delve deeper into this form of advertising and to improve the results. A nice challenge! Starting with basic knowledge, I was encouraged to learn more, and followed several courses. Over the past year I have continued to develop my skills and familiarize myself with every aspect of Google AdWords Search. Our successful results, attracting many new leads, has shown just how successful we’ve been.
To ensure that I am completely up-to-date with the latest Search Advertising developments, I took the Google Search exam last month. As a result, I’m now the proud owner of a Google Search AdWords certificate!
Let BSL take care of your campaigns!
Of course I’m not just running our own campaigns successfully. We also support some of our customers to establish and improve their own Google Search campaigns. Firstly I sit down with the client to see what the starting points and objectives of their campaign will be. Then I develop concepts for SEO-compliant landing pages – usually with a web designer (either from BSL, or a designer chosen by the client). In consultation with the customer, I go on to create the campaign by classifying the ad groups, coming up with relevant search terms and writing compelling ad texts. Naturally the customer determines how much is invested in each campaign – and how long it should run. I keep a close eye on the campaigns using Google Analytics and AdWords reports. After discussing the results, I can adjust them where necessary, gradually fine-tuning each campaign for the best possible reach.
