Last Friday we released the new WCC careers website. The requirements were clear. Firstly the site had to be modern, fast, and easy-to-use on any type of device. Secondly it must be easy for their HR team to maintain the list of openings, and create stories about life@WCC. The solution: a responsive website created using Drupal. Careers website
WCC is a software company that focuses on sectors such as identity management and personnel matching. Business is good, so they need more employees to help meet the international demand. Yet recruiting good technical personnel is a challenge. Which means they were looking for a way to promote their company to new employees. They decided to create a dedicated careers website.
Innovation was a priority, so they asked BSL to build it for them. Consequently our web developers have been working hard on the site over the last two months. And with success. Since last Friday candidates can quickly find new job openings. In addition they can find out what it means to work at WCC, following a number of user stories. We’ve also integrated AFAS web-services into the site. This means that any new applications, CV’s and references are automatically sent to the WCC HR team.
Drupal, an excellent choice
A Drupal CMS is already used for the main WCC site. Therefore it’s no surprise that WCC chose Drupal for their new careers website. WCC came to us with a set of detailed design ideas produced by another bureau. So Drupal was an excellent choice! Our developers love Drupal because of the flexibility it offers in comparison with (for example) WordPress. As a result we could recreate their design perfectly, whilst delivering a careers website that is easy-to-use by the whole WCC team. They have the freedom to add whatever content they wish to promote their company, and maintain their job openings.
Sublime web experience
The number of mobile website visitors increases each year. As a result a responsive careers website was a ‘must’. This means that users of any type of device or screen share the same, sublime experience. We received only desktop layout designs from WCC. Which meant that our designers had to transform these designs to look good on tablets and smartphones. A challenge that we passed with flying colours. WCC had also suggested that we use animations, and custom transitions between screens. Consequently we had to adapt these animations to work on every screen size. But our developers know all the tricks, and as a result the careers website works fast on every type of device and connection. The client didn’t have to make any concessions!
